eu-west-1 (Ireland) egress pricing
Ireland matches us-east-1 on most data transfer rates: $0.09/GB for the first 10 TB of internet egress, $0.045/GB for NAT Gateway processing. The story that matters here is the EU Data Act free-migration egress, which only applies to EU regions and requires specific conditions.

EU Data Act free-egress fine print
Since March 2024, AWS waives outbound data transfer fees when an EU or UK customer transfers data out of AWS as part of a switch to a different cloud provider or to on-premises. The conditions are narrower than the marketing suggests:
- Customer must submit a written request to AWS and indicate intent to terminate the relevant services.
- The transfer must be completed within a specified window (typically 60 days from approval).
- It applies to switching providers, not to ongoing cross-cloud or multi-cloud workloads.
- The waiver covers internet egress, not cross-AZ, NAT Gateway processing, or other ancillary charges.
- You must keep documentation that the data was used for migration purposes.
In practice, the waiver is useful for full-account migrations from EU regions but does not enable cost-free cross-cloud architectures. AWS, Azure, and GCP all introduced similar waivers in 2024 in response to the EU Data Act, and all are similarly restricted.
