Azure Front Door pricing
Azure Front Door has Standard ($35/profile/month + $0.17/GB to $0.45/GB) and Premium ($330/profile/month + same data rates, plus WAF). It is Microsoft's CDN + global load balancer, competing with CloudFront and Cloudflare. Per-GB rates are higher than direct storage egress at low volumes but cheaper at scale.

Front Door vs direct Azure Storage egress
Direct Azure Blob Storage egress from Zone 1 starts at $0.087/GB. Front Door (NA/EU) starts at $0.165/GB, almost double per GB. For most workloads serving North America or Europe, direct storage is cheaper unless you need WAF, request routing, or global anycast latency.
Front Door wins when: you need built-in WAF + DDoS, you have many backend origins to route across, you want global anycast (single hostname routes to nearest healthy backend), or you serve users in zones where direct egress is expensive (Zone 3 direct is $0.181/GB, which makes Front Door competitive even at low volumes).

Free across all SKUs and regions, same as Azure Blob ingress.
Request fees
$0.0075 per 10,000 requests in NA/EU, $0.009 to $0.022 elsewhere. Comparable to CloudFront.
Route fees
First 5 routes per profile are included. Additional routes ~$0.18/route/month.
WAF (Premium only)
$5 per WAF policy per month + $0.60 per million requests evaluated. Custom rules charged separately.
Private Link (Premium)
$0.01/hour per Private Link Endpoint. Useful for connecting Front Door to private VNet backends.
Rules Engine
First 5 rules per route free. Additional rules $1/month each.
