Azure Front Door pricing
Azure Front Door has Standard ($35/profile/month) and Premium ($330/profile/month + WAF) tiers, with the same data rates on both: from $0.0825/GB out of North America and Europe edges, up to $0.14/GB entry pricing in the most expensive zones. It is Microsoft's CDN + global load balancer, competing with CloudFront and Cloudflare, and its per-GB rate to NA/EU users now sits slightly below direct Blob Storage egress.

Premium data rates match Standard; request fees are higher on Premium ($0.015 vs $0.009 per 10,000 in Zone 1). Tiers continue past 500 TB: Zone 1 drops to $0.0069/GB (500 TB to 1 PB) and $0.0054/GB above 5 PB. Microsoft prices eight edge zones; zones 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 cover South America, Australia, India, Middle East / Africa, and Korea (rates shown as the range across them).
Front Door vs direct Azure Storage egress
Direct Azure Blob Storage egress from Zone 1 regions starts at $0.087/GB. Front Door egress from NA/EU edges starts at $0.0825/GB and falls much faster with volume: $0.0141/GB in the 150-500 TB band versus $0.05/GB direct. For cacheable content served to North America or Europe, Front Door is now cheaper per GB from the first GB. The costs to watch instead: the $35/month base fee, request fees, and $0.02/GB edge-to-origin transfer on cache misses.
Front Door wins when: you need built-in WAF + DDoS, you have many backend origins to route across, you want global anycast (single hostname routes to nearest healthy backend), or you serve users in zones where direct egress is expensive (Zone 3 direct is $0.181/GB, which makes Front Door competitive even at low volumes).
Per-GB rates to NA/EU users now sit just under CloudFront's ($0.0825 vs $0.085 for the first 10 TB), though CloudFront has no base fee and a 1 TB free tier. Cloudflare's flat-fee model still undercuts both for fully cacheable content. See CloudFront pricing.

Origin to edge transfer
Free. Bytes flowing from your origin into Front Door edge locations are not billed.
Edge to origin transfer
$0.02/GB from NA/EU edges (up to $0.16/GB in the most expensive zones). Charged on cache misses and request bodies forwarded to origin.
Request fees
$0.009 per 10,000 requests on Standard in NA/EU ($0.0108 to $0.0199 in other zones); $0.015 per 10,000 on Premium. Volume tiers discount up to ~27 percent.
WAF
Included with Premium. Managed rule sets, custom rules, and bot management carry no separate per-policy or per-request charges.
Private Link (Premium)
No separate Front Door charge for Private Link origins. Useful for connecting Front Door to private VNet backends.
Routes and Rules Engine
No separate charges for routes or rules engine rules on Standard and Premium.
