Azure Front Door bills a base fee per profile plus outbound data transfer and requests. Standard is $35/profile/month; Premium is $330/profile/month and adds the WAF. Both tiers charge the same data rates, from $0.083/GB out of North America and Europe edges for the first 10 TB. Azure counts 1 TB as 1,000 GB, so 10 TB/month of cacheable NA/EU traffic on Standard is $865/month before request fees ($35 base plus $830 transfer).

Direct Azure Blob Storage egress from North America and Europe starts at $0.087/GB after a 100 GB monthly free allowance. Front Door egress from NA/EU edges starts at $0.083/GB and pulls further ahead with volume: $0.066/GB in the 10-50 TB band against $0.083/GB direct, and $0.057/GB in the 50-150 TB band against $0.07/GB direct. Above 150 TB the comparison stops being public, because Microsoft quotes Front Door individually while direct egress stays on a published $0.05/GB band. The costs to watch: the $35/month base fee, request fees, and $0.02/GB edge-to-origin transfer on cache misses.
Front Door wins when: you need built-in WAF + DDoS, you have many backend origins to route across, you want global anycast (single hostname routes to nearest healthy backend), or you serve users from places where direct egress is expensive (egress sourced in South America is $0.181/GB for the first 10 TB, which makes Front Door competitive even at low volumes).
