DigitalOcean Spaces egress: 1,024 GiB in, a cent a GiB after
Spaces, DigitalOcean's S3-compatible object storage, includes 1,024 GiB of outbound transfer, pooled across your buckets, and prices everything beyond it at a flat $0.01 per GiB. Two details are worth getting right: Spaces bills in GiB, the 1,024-based unit, and its allowance is separate from the Droplet transfer pool, which trips people up more than the rate does.

Spaces' allowance is flat where B2's scales with storage and Wasabi's is a policy bound. Past the first TiB, Spaces and B2 charge the same cent per unit, with the unit itself differing by 2.4 percent (GiB vs GB). The unbounded model is R2, paid for in metered operations.

What does 10 TiB of egress cost on DigitalOcean Spaces?
10 TiB is 10,240 GiB. The first 1,024 GiB are included, leaving 9,216 GiB at $0.01: $92.16 for the month. That is about a tenth of the per-GB price of hyperscaler egress at the same volume.
Is Spaces egress the same as Droplet transfer?
No, and this is a common confusion. Droplets carry their own bundled transfer pool, separate from the Spaces allowance. This page covers the Spaces object-storage product: 1,024 GiB of pooled outbound included, then $0.01 per GiB. Traffic served by a Droplet draws on the Droplet pool instead.
How does Spaces egress compare with Backblaze B2 and Cloudflare R2?
Spaces includes a flat 1,024 GiB then charges $0.01 per GiB regardless of what you store. B2 scales its free allowance with stored volume (3x average monthly storage) before the same cent-per-GB rate. R2 charges nothing for egress at any volume but meters read operations. Which is cheapest depends on your egress-to-storage ratio.
