Hetzner traffic pricing: 1 TB included, then $1.20 a terabyte
Hetzner prices traffic the way most providers price storage: cheaply and flatly. US cloud servers include at least 1 TB of traffic, EU servers 20 TB, and additional traffic is $1.20 per TB (EUR 1.00), which is about $0.0012 per GB. That is the cheapest published overage rate in our index, roughly seventy-five times under AWS's $0.09 first tier. The scope matters though: this is bundled cloud-server traffic, not an object-storage product.
The published numbers
| Item | Published figure | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Included traffic, US cloud servers | At least 1 TB / month | “Cloud servers located in the U.S. include at least 1 TB of included traffic.” |
| Included traffic, other regions | EU 20 TB, Singapore 0.5 TB | The allowance is region dependent; EU locations carry the largest inclusion. |
| Additional traffic | $1.20 / TB | EUR 1.00 per TB; about $0.0012 per GB. Taken from Hetzner's live price data, not a marketing page. |

What a month of egress costs (US server)
| Monthly egress | Billable | Hetzner | AWS, same volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 TB | 0 TB | $0.00 | $83.16 |
| 10 TB | 9 TB | $10.80 | $913 |
| 50 TB | 49 TB | $58.80 | $4,395 |
| 100 TB | 99 TB | $118.80 | $7,980 |
Hetzner column: our arithmetic from the published $1.20 per TB after the 1 TB US inclusion, treating a TB as 1,000 GB. AWS column: our calculator on the same scenarios, from AWS's published tier table with its 100 GB free tier, crossing into the cheaper bands as volume grows. The point survives every tier boundary: the gap is two orders of magnitude.
The honest caveats
- This is bundled traffic on cloud servers, not an object-storage egress price. If what you need is S3-style storage with cheap reads, the closer comparisons are R2, Backblaze B2 and Wasabi.
- The inclusion is region dependent, and the US floor (1 TB) is the smallest of the main regions apart from Singapore. An EU server carries 20 TB before the meter starts.
- Hetzner prices in EUR; the USD figure moves with the exchange rate Hetzner sets in its own price data.
Run your own numbers
Hetzner needs no stored-volume input; the allowance is a flat inclusion. The preset is the 10 TB scenario from the table above, priced against every provider we track.

How much traffic is included with a Hetzner Cloud server?
Hetzner states that cloud servers located in the U.S. include at least 1 TB of traffic. The allowance is region dependent: EU locations include 20 TB and Singapore 0.5 TB. Inbound traffic is not the constraint; the included figure is what matters for egress.
What does Hetzner charge for traffic above the included allowance?
$1.20 per TB in the US (EUR 1.00 per TB), which works out to about $0.0012 per GB. The figure comes from Hetzner's own live price data. For comparison, AWS's first paid tier is $0.09 per GB: seventy-five times the Hetzner rate.
How much does 100 TB of egress cost on Hetzner?
On a US cloud server with the 1 TB inclusion: 99 TB of additional traffic at $1.20 per TB is $118.80 for the month. The same 100 TB served from AWS at published first-tier rates runs to several thousand dollars. On an EU server, the first 20 TB are included, so the overage shrinks to $96 at EUR 1.00 per TB equivalent.
Is Hetzner's traffic price per 1,000 or 1,024 GB?
Hetzner quotes traffic per TB in EUR; our calculator resolves a TB as 1,000 GB on Hetzner's meter and labels the conversion. At $1.20 per TB the difference between the two conventions is a fraction of a cent, but we state the basis anyway.
