1 PB / month egress: enterprise scale

At 1 PB / month, list-price arithmetic loses meaning. Every customer at this scale negotiates a custom rate via Enterprise Agreement / Enterprise Discount Programme. The numbers below show list prices; real bills are typically 30 to 60 percent lower after negotiation.

List price: 1 PB / month outbound (NA/EU mix)

ProviderList monthly costPer GB blendedNote
Cloudflare R2$0.00$0.000Storage cost separate, egress free.
Backblaze B2 + CF Bandwidth Alliance$0.00$0.000Free egress to Cloudflare; storage $6.95/TB/month.
Oracle Cloud$8,826$0.008410 TB free + 1,014 TB x $0.0085.
AWS CloudFront$40,637$0.039Heavy volume discount tiers kick in ($0.03/GB above 500 TB).
AWS direct (S3)$56,315$0.054Tier drops to $0.05/GB above 150 TB.
Azure (Zone 1)$56,202$0.054Drops to $0.05 above 150 TB; near-identical to AWS at this scale.
GCP (Standard Tier)$50,446$0.048Drops to $0.045/GiB above 150 TiB; cheapest hyperscaler list price at this scale.
Bunny CDN / Fastly$5,120 - $15,360$0.005 - $0.015Third-party CDNs price aggressively above 100 TB.

Negotiation context

At 1 PB / month sustained, AWS, Azure, and GCP all have enterprise programmes:

  • AWS EDP (Enterprise Discount Programme): 12 to 36 month spend commitments, typical discount 10 to 30 percent on all services including data transfer. Custom egress rates negotiable above $5M / year total commit.
  • Azure EA: similar structure; reservations and commitments earn 10 to 30 percent. ExpressRoute Unlimited is often included in large EAs.
  • GCP Committed Use Discounts: less leverage on egress specifically; better deals on compute that indirectly help.

Patterns: a $10M / year AWS customer often negotiates data transfer to ~$0.03/GB blended (a 40 percent discount on list). Above $50M / year, sub-$0.02/GB is achievable. Below $1M / year, leverage is minimal and list prices apply.
